Video Presentation of the 2011 Audi A1 Hatchback

Audi is entering MINI Cooper and Alfa Romeo MiTo territory with its new A1 premium supermini that was revealed on Tuesday ahead of its first public outing at next month's Geneva Motor Show. Along with the first batch of photos, Audi also released a trio of videos that include a walk around the car with design boss, Stefan Siellaf.

The A1 will be offered at launch with two gasoline and two diesel engines, all direct-injection four-cylinder turbos with stop-start technology. While European sales will start later this year, the German automaker hasn't committed to bringing the car over to the U.S. - or at least not yet.

Audi promises that these are the last teaser photos and videos of the all-new A1 before the Germans officially take the wraps off their first, or rather second, if you take into consideration the tall A2, premium supermini next Wednesday.

The new videos give us a tour of Audi's automotive plant in Brussels, Belgium, where the German firm invested some €285 million to bring the site up to date for the manufacturing of the A1.

VIDEO: Audi Continues to Tease A1 Superini, this time with Interior Details

Question: Has Audi overdone it with the abstract videos of its forthcoming A1 supermini? In our humble opinion, yes. While informative, we think the Germans would have accomplished more if they accompanied these videos with a series of juicy teaser sketches / images and videos of camouflaged prototypes - just like Mercedes did with the SLS AMG.

VIDEO: New Audi A7 Caught Testing with BMW 7-Series in Norway

A pair of camouflaged prototypes of the upcoming Audi A7 were spotted testing outside the city of Oslo in Norway. The A7s appear to be accompanied by an A5 Sportback, a BMW 7-Series and one more car that we couldn't identify. The A7 is to the next-generation A6 what the A5 Sportback is to the A4 / A5 models; a sexier looking and less practical five-door variant (notice the open hatch in the video) of the A6 with seating for four.

Designed to compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS that will soon enter its second generation, the A7 shares its steel-reinforced aluminium platform and mechanical hardware with the next A6.

The A7 though will arrive first as Audi has already made it official that it will launch the sporty-looking saloon onto the market in the second half of 2010.

Power will come from a variety of gasoline and diesel engines including the firm's supercharged 3.0-liter V6 TFSI petrol, while rumor has it that Audi will expand the range in 2011 with a gasoline-electric hybrid model.

VIDEO: 2011 Audi A1 - First Drive by FC Bayern Soccer Stars

Being a direct shareholder of Germany's FC Bayern Munich, Audi didn't miss out on the opportunity to call in players of the famous soccer club to show off its new A1 supermini. The German automaker invited national soccer players Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm to get a taste of their yet-to-be unveiled premium supermini at an enclosed area in a secret location.

The two overly enthusiastic players, who are the first non-Audi employees to get behind the steering wheel of the car, exchanged driver seats and took the A1 for an extremely tight spin around the hall, and well, that's about it.

The Audi A1 will make its official world debut at the Geneva Motor Show but we'll see the first photos of the car during the second week of February. Video after the break.

VIDEO: 2011 Audi A1 Shows its Colors, gets Distinctive Wasabi Green Accent for the Interior

In anticipation of the next video of the 2011 A1 mini concerning a test drive with Bayern Munich's soccer stars that is scheduled for release at the end of this week, we bring you this far less interesting film with Jana Bonkova, a color and trim designer at the German firm.

Bonkova puts us to sleep informs us about a distinctive Wasabi Green accent color that will be available for the A1's interior. In case you didn't know, Wasabi is a strong flavored Japanese type of horseradish with a characteristic green color.

"We use wasabi paste for meals to improve the flavor – but only in small amounts," Bonkova said. "It's the same with the A1. Wasabi Green is used selectively to create accents, such as in details like seams. We want to use this color to appeal to people who simply want something new and fresh."

Audi Claims New A1 will be the "First Fully-Fledged Premium Car in its Segment" [With Video]

Automakers usually make all sorts of claims about their new products, some of which are - or prove to be- true, and some of which are either false or exaggerated. Audi is no exception to the rule as the company has raised the bar high on its new A1 supermini that's due to have its world premiere at the Geneva Salon this March.

We'll have to wait a few months to see for ourselves what's true or not but for now, and aside from the brand's Head of Quality, Werner Zimmermann, claim that "the A1 will be the first fully-fledged premium automobile in its segment," (how many times have we heard that before?) here's what else Audi had to say about the A1's premium feel and quality:

"Evidence of the premium character of the A1 is found in every last detail in the interior – in the selection of the materials, in their processing and in the tight, even gaps. The surface of the instrument panel is softly backed with foam; all buttons and controls move precisely; even the pull handle that unlatches the hood release does so crisply and precisely."

New Audi A1 to get Colored Roof Arches [with Video]

More or less, we know what the production Audi A1 that will have its online premiere in early February prior to its physical debut at the Geneva Salon in March, will look like. The Germans showed the car in near production guise through the 2007 Metroproject Quattro (3door) and more recently with the A1 Sportback concepts.

We've even seen the actual production model snapped alongside Justin Timberlake. But Audi's marketing team insists on releasing various tidbits about its sporty supermini.

In this latest video interview, the A1's exterior designer, Jürgen Löffler, reveals that Audi has kept the 3door concept model's contrasting roof arches and that customers will be able to order the roof arch in a variety of colors, regardless of the body color of the car.

He also talks about the A1's shoulder line that Audi names "tornado line", which wraps the car completely around beginning up front with the single-frame grille, extending over the front lights and the side to the tail lights and the rear hatch.

The guy you see pictured above is André Georgi, light designer at Audi, and the car shadowed behind him, Ingolstadt's answer to the BMW Group's MINI hatch, the all-new A1 that will be officially unveiled in February. And yes, Audi's latest video teaser on the A1 is all about the sporty hatchback's headlamps and in particular, the LED daytime running lights.
